Thiamin (vitamin B1)
DescriptionThiamin is a water-soluble vitamin that is found in body mainly as thiamin pyrophosphate (TPP). TPP is a coenzyme required for carbohydrate metabolism. The best sources of thiamin are pork, whole grain products and beans. Thiamin deficiency appears mainly in alcoholics. Symptoms of it are fatigue, muscle weakness, lack of appetite, and nerve disorders. |
