Description
Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin that is necessary in the formation of blood clotting factors. Good sources are asparagus, kale (Brassica oleracea), spinach and other green leafy vegetables, plant oils and liver. In vegetables, vitamin K is found as phylloquinone and in animal prodects as menaquinones. In addition, the intestinal bacteria of humans are able to produce menaquinone. Vitamin deficiency is rare.
