Sucrose
Description
Sucrose is a disaccharide composed of glucose and fructose. It is digested and absorbed easily and it raises blood glucose quickly. Sucrose yields energy. It doesn't contain protective nutrients at all, and that is why produced energy is often called empty calories. Consumption of sugar increases the cariogenicity. Common sugar is only consisted of sucrose. The highest content of sucrose is found in sweets, soft drinks and sweet bakery products.
